This Privacy Policy describes Our policies and procedures on the collection, use and disclosure of Your information when You use the Service and tells You about Your privacy rights and how the law protects You.
We may use Your Interaction Data to improve the Service. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Edvance is a learning analytics tool developed at the Centre for Learning Analytics at Monash University. It is designed for research and educational improvement purposes only and is not developed for commercial or profit-making use.
Edvance is implemented as a Chrome extension that provides students with feedback and insights based on their learning activity within Learning Management Systems (LMSs) such as Moodle or Ed.
The extension collects only user interaction logs within the extension itself to support the generation of feedback and insights. It does not collect any information about user activity outside of the extension.
The words with initial capital letters have meanings defined under the following conditions. The definitions apply regardless of whether they appear in singular or plural form.
Edvance uses your personal data exported from LMS platforms. These personal data have been securely stored in password-protected storage systems. These data include your interaction records on the LMS platform, your grades, username, full name, email, etc.
Edvance collects only interaction logs that occur within the Chrome extension itself. This includes actions like clicking buttons, inspecting visualizations or interacting with feedback provided by the extension.
It does not collect data from other browser tabs, websites, or applications outside of the extension environment.
We use the local storage of Google Chrome to store information required to maintain the functionality of the extension. This includes the token of the logged-in user, the name of the user and the learning analytics insights for the user.
We use your personal data solely for educational and research purposes, specifically using only the data of users who have signed up to participate in the research projects. It includes:
No commercial profiling, advertising, or marketing is conducted using Your data.
Your personal data is handled with confidentiality and care. It may be shared only in the following academic and research-related contexts:

Your data may be transferred to — and maintained on — computers outside of Your country where data laws may differ. We ensure adequate safeguards are in place before any such transfer.
You may request the deletion of your Personal Data at any time. You can do this by contacting us. However, some information may need to be retained for legal, compliance or ethical obligations.
If you would like to proceed or have any questions, please contact us via email: guanliang.chen@monash.edu
If Edvance is transferred to another academic unit or integrated into broader educational platforms within Monash University or an academic partner institution, Your Personal Data may be included. In such cases, Your data will remain subject to ethical research use and this Privacy Policy.
We may disclose Your Personal Data if required to do so by law, or to comply with Monash University policies or research ethics obligations.
